ANTRAS („Second“) is our hazy American Pale Ale dry hopped with Amarillo, Centenniel, Citra, Idaho 7, Mosaic, Simcoe, Warrior which brings bright tropical fruit flavours and aromas of pear, mango and stone fruit.

BREWERY & TEAM

„Black Light“ introduction

Black Light Brewing started as an idea because we were interested in exploring different beer styles, the culture of beer, the delightful aromas and the taste of great beer. In 2015 we started home brewing to experiment and analyse how different ingredients in different combinations affected the resulting beer.

Initially we used just 4 ingredients, malt, hops, yeast and water but quickly our head brewer Ignas, wanting to be more creative, started adding other ingredients into the boil process including coffee, fruits, vanilla, berries, oatmeal, yeast, cereal grains and an ever wider variety of hops.

We realized that no other brewers in Europe were focused on brewing these artistic and unique recipes. In late 2016 we worked with another brewer to help perfect our recipes at a modern brewery just outside of Vilnius and started brewing our favourite masterpieces to enjoy ourselves and to share with the world.

About the brewery

We utilize a modern brew system designed for microbreweries. We brew small batches with a mash volume of 10 hl which we use to fill our ten, 25 hl fermenters which allows us to produce 100 hl of the highest quality beer per month. The entire process from adding grain, water, mash tun boil, sparging and brew tank transfer to fermentation is fully automated and programmed using the latest brewery automation software.

Highly quality ingredients can make all the difference and so we painstakingly source our ingredients from sources that we have grown to trust and rely upon. Some of our favourites are, Simpsons Malt (UK); Best Malz (GER); Yakima Valley Hops (USA); Ych Hops (USA); Simply Hops (UK); Wyeast (USA).

We used to bottling our beer, but to be fully modern brewery we decided to can it. Process is fully automated for best quality result.

We use barrels (Key-Keg) to ensure quality, freshness and maximize shelf life. Heavily hopped fresh IPA’s will maintain their freshness for 6-9 months, while stouts, porters and lagers have a shelf life of 12-24 months or more. We don’t filter, pasteurize or add preservatives to our beer. We put our heart and lot’s of hard work into making the best beer for us to drink and to share with you to enjoy.  There is a saying that cleanliness is next to Godliness and never has this been so true at Black Light as we spend 90% of our time washing, sterilizing, and perfecting the brew cycle so that we can serve a nectar that the God’s would truly appreciate.

 

I am Ignas. Head brewer and founder of Black Light. Man Orchestra - since Black Light is a contract brewery it don`t need a lot of employees, it is enough to be the only one who is responsible for design, recipes, sales, logistics and all the other necessary processes for a successful business.
